I am going to try using a supplemental nursing system before I just give up on it all together

Is he satisfied after the 5mins of bf or do you need to top him up?

To increase your supply you need to put baby to the breast often so that him suckling stimulates your breast. Or you can also try pumping 2-3hrs during the day to also stimulate.

If you contact your dr there are medications you can take that will increase your milk production

My daughter is a very quick nurser! She can empty a boob in 5 minutes! She always seems satisfied though! Some babies "guzzle" at the boob. It doesn't mean she's not getting enough!

However if you are topping off a nursing session with formula, I would try to pump for ten minutes duration each side about 15 minutes after she's done nursing. It really is supply and demand!

I mainly breastfeed, but I alternated at first between bottle(formula)/ breast. Now when I'm with my baby I offer the breast as much as possible and give formula when we are out and about or at family houses visiting .
