Hi tsouder :) kudos to you for being so motivated, and for trying so hard. I had twins a year and a half ago who were born at 30 wks. I pumped while they were in the NICU, and (like you) felt so torn about stopping & going exclusively on formula. We had to supplement w/formula from when they were about 2 months old because I wasn't producing enough for the both of them. I didn't much like pumping, and sadly, neither one was able to develop a strong enough suck, so try as I might, I couldn't get them to BF. I ended up pumping until they were 8 months old because it was important to me. And even then, I felt guilty for stopping. But as everyone else has been saying, you need to do what feels right to you. One thing that made it easier for me was the Medela hands-free pumping bustier. Do you have that? Because you can pretty much do anything else - even bottle-feed your babies - while you pump! It made it a LOT easier. Just an idea...
Best of luck to you and your family!

Identical twins & mono- mono are not the same thing. But all mono-mono twins are identical. Identical twins happen when the egg splits. Mono-mono twins happen when the egg splits late - after a week after conception. Hopefully that helps clear up some confusion.

Hi IMDejah - I had mono-mono boys back in March. My OB put me in the hospital @ 26 wks for continuous monitoring, with a goal of delivering them via C-section @ 34 wks. They came earlier than that, though - one night @ almost 31 wks, Baby B's heart rate was decelling & not coming back up, so they did an emergency C. My boys spent some time in the NICU, which was tough, but thankfully they have been home for a while now and are doing great! If you'd like to email me, my address is harptress@verizon.net. I don't always come on to BB anymore, so email is a more reliable way to reach me :) I'd be happy to help you through this - I know I wished I knew someone going through something similar when I was still pregnant.

Best of luck to you :)

Hi Maggy - I had identical boys back in march that were mono-mono. My OB had me hospitalized @ 26 wks to be put on continuous monitoring. The boys did come prematurely @ 31 wks, and did spend some time in the NICU. But the good news is, they are home (have been for a while now) & are doing great! Nice healthy chunky boys!!

If you'd like to email me, my address is harptress@verizon.net. I'd be happy to share more/offer whatever advice you'd like.

Best of luck to you :)

My boys are finally home from the NICU! Beckett was in there for just over 8 weeks, and Heath was there for exactly two months (came home only 2 days after his brother.) It's a lot of work with two, and I'm extremely sleep deprived, but I am so so happy they are finally home!! Best of luck to all NICU moms out there... :)

When I created my registry, the store gave me a list of what I needed. Also, I think BB has a checklist!

Hi diandria, yes they are my first kids. My water never broke; I had actually already been in the hospital for continuous monitoring since 26 wks. My twins were (are) mono-mono, meaning they shared a placenta and were in the same amniotic sac. The plan was for me to hold out until 34 wks. Docs didn't want me to go any later due to the risk of cord entanglement. But @ 30w5d, Baby B's heart rate was decelling & they had to do an emergency C.
